Does HRM effect Organizational Success?


An organization is a  group of people work together to achieve a common set objective. one of the key element in organization is people, where we consider them as Human Resource which is inevitable. the organization could achieve its goals & objectives only if the human resource is directed properly.

In simple terms organizations have two types of resources as unique resources and threshold resources. Human resource which could be made a unique resource which couldn't be copied by the competitors. having a best HR Practice human resources can be turned in to Unique resources which will bring core competencies to the organization. At the same time the created unique resource should be retained in the organization which could be attained by HRM.

There is indeed a convergence in the use of HRM for competitive advantage. However, in pursuing this convergence there are some clear divergences, nuances and specific themes in the areas of HRM that will take the fore and in the way in which specific aspects such as culture, work structuring, performance management and resourcing will be utilized (Sparrow, P., Schuler, R. S. and Jackson, S. E. 1994)

What is Human Resource Management? 

As many definition for HRM has been given by different authors, 

According to Wendell L French “ the human resource management refers to the philosophy, policies, procedures, & practice related to the management of people within an organization.

According to Stephen P Robbins, HRM is a process consisting of the acquisition, development, motivation & maintenance of human resources

HRM is a process of employing people, developing their resources, utilizing, maintaining & compensating their service in tune with the job & organizational requirements with a view to contribute to the goals of the organization, individual & the society .

Importance for the Organization:-

  • Good human resource practices help in attracting & retaining the best people in the organization.
  • In order to make use of latest technology the appointment of right type of persons is essential. The right people can be fitted into new jobs properly only if the management performs its HR function satisfactorily.
  • Globalization has increased the size of the organization who employ thousands of employees in different countries. The performance of the company depends upon the qualities of the people employed. This has further increased the importance of HRM
  • HR planning alerts the organization to the types of people it will need in the short , medium & long run.
  • HR development is essential for meeting the challenges of future. The importance of HRM has increased because of the shortage of really managerial talent in the country.

Importance for the employees

  • HRM stress on the motivation of employees by providing them various financial & non-financial incentives.
  • Right organizational climate is also stressed upon so that the employees can contribute their maximum to the achievement of the organizational objectives.
  • Effective management of HR promotes team work & team spirit among employees. 
  • It also encourages people to work with diligence & commitment.
  • It offers excellent growth opportunities to people who have the potential to rise.

Some of the key objectives of HRM are: (Shalini. L., March 2023)

  • HR managers strive to reduce expenses in areas, such as retaining employees. HR specialists are taught to conduct effective negotiations with potential and current workers, as well as to be knowledgeable about employee perks that are likely to attract excellent applicants and keep current employees.
  • HR managers play an important role in developing employer-employee relationships since they contribute considerably to training and development programs. This leads to staff development inside the organization, hence, increasing employee happiness and productivity.
  • Human resource managers are in charge of organizing activities, events and celebrations inside the organization, which provide possibilities for team development. Furthermore, it increases employee engagement and fosters a sense of confidence and regard among colleagues.

In Conclusion.


A satisfied staff is the foundation of a thriving company, and HR management is the cement that holds it together. HRM is an invisible agent that binds all the aspects of the organization to ensure smooth progress. therefore its inevitable for an organization to grow and sustain in the highly Competitive Market.
